| Reverse description | Central type consisting of an upward-opening crescent surmounted by an eight-pointed star, both rendered in bold relief within the coin field. This celestial symbol was a common civic emblem on the bronze coinage of Prusias ad Hypium. The encircling Greek legend ΠΡΟΥϹΙΕΩΝ ΠΡΟϹ ΥΠΙΩ, reading 'of the people of Prusias on the Hypius,' frames the design around the periphery. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show typical patination consistent with provincial bronze coinage of the Antonine period. |
