Obverse description Bare-headed, draped bust of the deified Antinous facing right, depicted with his characteristic youthful features and full curly hair. The effigy is rendered in the Hellenistic portrait tradition, with drapery visible at the truncation of the bust. The obverse legend ΘΕΟΝ ΑΝΤΙΝΟΟΝ surrounds the portrait, invoking Antinous in his divine aspect as worshipped in the Greek East following his deification by Hadrian after 130 AD. The flan is irregular and the strike somewhat worn, as is typical of provincial bronze issues of this period.
