| Beschrijving keerzijde | Tyche of the city standing to the right, holding a cornucopia in one arm and a long sceptre in the other hand, with one foot placed upon a river god swimming to the right below her feet. The figure is rendered in the Hellenistic tradition common to Syrian and Arabian civic bronzes, symbolising the city's fortune and prosperity. The Greek civic legend ΤΥΧΗ ΑΔΡΑΗΝωΝ, meaning 'Fortune of the Adraeans', is distributed in the field around the figure. The composition reflects the standard iconographic type used by the city of Adraa for its local bronze issues under Elagabalus. |
