| Beschrijving keerzijde | A colonist, rendered in profile facing right, strides behind a yoke of oxen while guiding a plough, his right hand raised in a gesture of command. This well-established colonial foundation type — the actus coloniae, or ritual ploughing of the city boundary — alludes to Petra's status as a Roman colonia. The legend is distributed around the field, partially visible in the upper and lower registers. The reverse die is struck with moderate relief on a worn and irregularly shaped flan, consistent with local provincial production. The type closely follows the standard colonial foundation iconography used at Petra under the Severan dynasty. |
