Reverse description Standing figure of Asclepius, depicted facing with head turned to the left, clad in a himation draped over the lower body and left arm, resting with his right hand upon his serpent-entwined staff (the kerykeion of medicine). The god is shown in a dignified, static posture typical of Greco-Roman divine iconography on provincial civic coinage. The encircling ethnic legend ΑΝΤΑΝΔΡΙΩΝ in Greek identifies the issuing city of Antandrus in the Troad. The fields are worn but the principal design elements remain distinguishable.
