Obverse description Laureate head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the idealized Hellenistic portrait tradition typical of eastern provincial coinage of the Augustan period. The laurel wreath is clearly rendered about the emperor's head, with facial features exhibiting the characteristic calm authority of Augustan imperial portraiture. A Greek legend encircles the portrait, identifying the emperor and the issuing city. The flan is slightly irregular, as is characteristic of hammered provincial bronze coinage of this era.
