| Obverse description | Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the idealized Hellenistic portrait style characteristic of provincial civic coinage. The effigy displays the emperor's classicized features with short, neatly arranged hair. The legend ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΣ ΜΑΘΥ runs around the periphery of the flan, identifying the issuing city of Methymna.
