| Obverse description | Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the idealized Hellenistic portrait tradition characteristic of provincial Lydian coinage. The emperor's features are finely modelled, with short layered hair swept forward over the brow. The legend ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΥ curves around the field in Greek script, identifying the portrait as that of the revered Augustus. The die work reflects the competent engraving style of the Sardis mint during the early Imperial period. |
