| Beschrijving keerzijde | Laureate head of Zeus facing right, depicted with characteristic thick curling hair and beard in the classical tradition. The surrounding Greek legend ΜΕΝΑΝΔΡΟΣ ΠΑΡΡΑΣΙΟΥ identifies the magistrate Menandros, son of Parrasios, under whose authority the coin was struck. The type follows the standard civic iconography of Tralles, where Zeus served as the principal civic deity. The die work is typical of Augustan-era provincial bronzes from the Lydian conventus. |
