The Koinon of Thessaly resumed autonomous bronze coinage under Augustus after decades of disruption — first from the Roman civil wars, then from the wholesale reorganization of Greek provincial administration. The magistrate name ΜΕΓΑΛΟΚΛΗΣ ΣΩΣΑΝΔΡΟΥ (Megalokles, son of Sosandros) identifies a local official granted eponymous authority over the issue, a distinctly Greek administrative habit that Rome left largely undisturbed in Thessaly.
The Koinon's coinage from this period is thinly documented, and die studies remain incomplete.
