Obverse description Laureate head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the idealized Hellenistic portrait style characteristic of Augustan provincial coinage. A lituus (augural staff) appears in the field before the portrait, signifying the emperor's role as augur. The legend ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΣ is disposed around the bust in Greek characters. The flan is slightly irregular, consistent with hand-struck provincial bronze issues of the period.
