| Reverse description | Zeus Laodiceus standing facing left, a full-length draped divine figure holding an eagle in his outstretched right hand and a long sceptre or staff in his left. The type reflects the principal civic deity of Laodicea ad Lycum. The Greek legend, distributed around the figure in the field, identifies the magistrate Antonios Polemon and the issuing city. The style is characteristic of late first-century BC Phrygian civic bronze coinage produced under Roman provincial administration. |
