| Obverse description | Bare head of the emperor Augustus facing right, rendered in the characteristic idealized Augustan portrait style typical of Phrygian civic coinage. The effigy displays closely cropped hair with individual strands carefully incised, and a strong, clean-shaven profile. The Greek legend ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΣ (Sebastos, the Greek equivalent of Augustus) appears in the field to the left of the portrait. The flan is irregular, and a dotted border frames the design. |
