Reverse description A Delphic tripod on three legs occupies the centre of the field, its cauldron entwined by a serpent whose body coils around the shaft and legs of the stand. The design alludes to the Apolline cult and the oracular tradition, a common type in the coinage of cities in Pontus. The ethnic legend ΑΜΑϹΤΡΙΑΝΩΝ is disposed around the periphery of the flan. The type is crisply struck relative to the worn condition of the coin's surfaces.
