Trapezopolis was a minor Lydian city of limited political weight, and its early issues under Antoninus Pius — struck within the first two years of his reign — likely reflect a civic rush to demonstrate loyalty to the new emperor following Hadrian's death in July 138. The magistrate name preserved in the legend, that of Adrastos, anchors this piece to a specific local administration otherwise almost entirely undocumented in literary sources.
