| Beschrijving keerzijde | A dolphin depicted swimming to the right, rendered in the compact provincial style typical of Thracian civic bronzes. The city ethnic of Anchialus is divided by the dolphin's body, with ΑΓΧΙΑ inscribed above and ΛΕΩΝ below, referring to the civic magistrate or the city name abbreviation. The design occupies the full flan, with the legend set close to the coin's irregular periphery. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Tranquillina, wife of Gordian III, appears on provincial bronzes from Anchialus — a Black Sea mint in Thrace — only during the narrow window of her husband's reign. She was elevated to Augusta in 241 AD upon their marriage, which is the earliest possible date for any coinage bearing her title. Anchialus was a relatively active provincial mint under Gordian III, but issues naming Tranquillina represent a small fraction of its output, making survivorship in any condition genuinely thin.
