Dorylaeum was a mid-tier Phrygian city of no particular political distinction, which makes its civic bronze issues under Trajan more interesting as administrative artifacts than as prestige pieces. The city struck in its own name — ΔΟΡΥΛΑΕΩΝ marking the issuing community — under the broader framework of provincial autonomy that allowed Asian cities to produce small-denomination bronze for local exchange while Rome controlled the silver.
RPC III 2636 pulls together the SNG von Aulock specimens into a coherent grouping, though die studies on Dorylaean civic bronze remain thin.
