| Reverse description | Turreted, veiled, and draped bust of Tyche, the city goddess of Edessa, facing left, wearing a mural crown atop the veil as an emblem of civic patronage. A small lighted altar is depicted to the left of the bust, a distinctive iconographic element of the Edessan civic coinage. The reverse field bears the Greek colonial legend distributed around the effigy, with dotted border visible along the periphery. The die work is consistent with the provincial bronze coinage of Roman Mesopotamia under the Severan and later periods. |
