| Reverse description | Standing frontal figure of Hera of Samos, the principal deity of the island, wearing a kalathos (cylindrical headdress) entwined by a serpent. The goddess holds a patera in each outstretched hand, with ritual fillets suspended on either side of her figure. In some specimens, a crescent and star appear in the upper field flanking the deity, emphasizing her divine and celestial associations. The reverse legend naming the Samians appears in the field. |
