| 背面描述 | Draped bust of Athena facing right, wearing a crested Corinthian helmet and the aegis across her chest, rendered in compact relief typical of small-module Phrygian provincial bronzes. The goddess is depicted in her martial aspect, with the aegis clearly indicated on the breast. The ethnic legend ΦΙΛΟΜΗΛΕΩΝ encircles the bust, distributed around the periphery of the coin field. |

Philomelium, a Phrygian city on the road between Apameia and Iconium, struck its own civic bronze throughout the Severan period under the authority granted to cities within the Roman provincial conventus system. The mint was modest and output comparatively low, which accounts for the rarity of most Philomelian types today.
V.2#1022 places this among a thinly represented series.
