| Reverse description | Telesphorus, the chthonic deity of convalescence and companion of Asclepius, depicted standing frontally in the centre of the field, enveloped in his characteristic hooded cloak that covers the entire figure, with only the face and feet visible. The figure is rendered in a rigid, columnar style consistent with provincial Phrygian bronzes. The ethnic legend ϹΕΙΒΛΙΑΝΩΝ is disposed around the figure in the field, identifying the issuing community of Siblia. The coin surface shows a patina of green and brown encrustation consistent with long burial. |
