Hermocapelia was a minor Lydian city whose civic coinage under Septimius Severus survives in very small numbers — a function of both limited original production and the site's obscurity. The city fell within the conventus of Pergamum, the administrative district through which Roman judicial and fiscal authority was exercised across the region, and local bronze issues like this one circulated purely at the municipal level, never traveling far.
