Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Philip I (Philip the Arab) facing right, portrayed three-quarter from the rear, with paludamentum visible over the left shoulder. The figure is rendered in a static, frontal stance typical of Bithynian provincial bronzes of the mid-third century AD. The ethnic legend of the issuing city encircles the type in the field.
