背面描述 A large cornucopia occupies the central field, its mouth at the top from which the infant Dionysus (or possibly Pluto) emerges, seated to the left and rendered in a lively, naturalistic manner typical of Lydian civic bronzes. Clusters of fruit and foliage spill from the horn's opening around the seated figure. The ethnic legend of the issuing city is distributed in the field around the central device. The overall composition reflects the city of Nysa's association with Dionysiac mythology, given the mythological etymology linking Nysa to the god's upbringing.

附加信息

Nysa-Scythopolis occupied an awkward position under Maximinus Thrax — a city with deep Hellenistic civic pride, struck under an emperor whose reign the Senate would eventually declare an enemy of the state. Local bronze issues like this one were produced entirely at civic expense, with no imperial mint involvement, making the decision to flatter Maximinus a calculated political hedge by the local boule rather than a directive from Rome.
