正面描述 Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Maximus (Caesar under Maximinus I) facing right, presented frontally from the shoulders up. The portrait displays characteristic short hair rendered in fine relief, with paludamentum over the left shoulder and segmented cuirass visible at the truncation. The circular Greek legend surrounds the effigy, reading Γ ΙΟΥ ΟΥΗ ΜΑΞΙΜΟϹ Κ, identifying the subject as Gaius Julius Verus Maximus Caesar. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the edges, typical of provincial bronze coinage of the Severan period.

附加信息

Hadrianeia, a minor Mysian city founded by or in honor of Hadrian in the early second century, minted prolifically under the Severans but issued relatively little under Maximinus Thrax — whose reign, lasting barely three years, was marked by military campaigns on the Danube and the Rhine that drained provincial attention and resources. The city's coins under Maximinus are correspondingly scarce. Hadrianeia's bronze issues from this period fall within the conventus of Adramyteum, one of the administrative districts through which Rome organized civic coinage rights in Asia Minor.
