| Reverse description | Two nude Dioscuri standing facing one another in a symmetrical composition, each holding a long spear and a small cult statue (xoanon); between the figures, a low altar is depicted. The scene reflects the local veneration of the Dioscuri at Abydus and is a known civic type for this Mysian mint. The Greek ethnic legend ΑΒΥΔΗΝΩΝ appears in the field, tentatively attributed. The reverse surface shows significant wear and patination consistent with the coin's age and condition. |
