Apollonia ad Rhyndacum, situated on the eastern shore of Lake Apolloniatis in Bithynia, struck civic bronzes under Marcus Aurelius during the years of the Marcomannic Wars — a period when the emperor spent more time on the Danube frontier than in Rome.
