Reverse description Central design comprising an eight-rayed star set within a crescent moon, the horns of the crescent pointing upward, conveying a celestial or astral symbolism associated with the deified Antinous. The star is rendered with a central pellet and eight straight rays of equal length radiating outward. The ethnic legend ΝΕΙΚΟΠΟΛΕωϹ is inscribed along the upper arc of the field, identifying the issuing city of Nicopolis. The flan edges are notably irregular, consistent with provincial hammered bronze coinage of the Hadrianic period.
