Obverse description Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in a somewhat archaic provincial style. The portrait displays the characteristic features of the Augustan type, with a plain, unadorned head devoid of laurel wreath or diadem. The Greek legend ΑΥΓΟΥϹΤΟϹ appears in the field to the right of the portrait, identifying the deified founder of the city. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show heavy patination consistent with provincial bronze coinage of the Imperial period.
