| 裏面の説明 | Artemis, the patron goddess of Ephesus, advancing to the right in dynamic pose, her right hand reaching back to draw an arrow from the quiver slung at her shoulder, her left hand extended holding a bow. The goddess is depicted in hunting attire, consistent with her role as divine huntress. The ethnic legend ΕΦΕϹΙΩΝ curves around the field. |

Ephesus was the seat of the conventus juridicus for the Roman province of Asia, and its civic bronze issues under Gordian III were produced locally to supplement imperial coinage in small-denomination transactions. The city's mint was prolific during this reign, generating multiple series distinguished by magistrate names, die alignments, and ethnic inscription variants — the bare ΕΦΕϹΙΩΝ ethnic without further titulature places this piece within a specific, more modest civic series rather than the grander agonistic or neokorate issues the city also produced in this period.
