The imperial effigy displays the characteristic laurel wreath crown and military paludamentum over cuirass. The encircling legend reads Μ ΑΥΡ ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝΟϹ, identifying the emperor by his adopted dynastic name Marcus Aurelius Antoninus. The die work is typical of the Ionian provincial workshops, with a slightly rough but expressive style. |

The reverse legend ΜΑΓΝΗΤΩΝ, meaning 'of the Magnetes,' identifies the issuing civic authority of Magnesia ad Maeandrum. |
