Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Emperor Commodus facing right, with a short beard rendered in fine detail characteristic of his early reign portraiture. The imperial effigy displays the characteristic features of Commodan portraiture, with the legend surrounding the bust in Latin characters. The flan is slightly irregular, as is typical of provincial bronze coinage of this period.
