Obverse description Laureate head of Caracalla facing right, set upon the back of an eagle flying right, the bird's spread wings visible beneath the imperial effigy. The surrounding Greek legend reads ΑΥΤΟΚ ΑΝΤωΝΙ, partially visible along the upper and lateral fields. The composition follows a distinctive provincial iconographic convention associating the emperor with Jupiter's eagle, rendered in a bold, somewhat provincial relief characteristic of Mesopotamian civic coinage.
