| Opis awersu | Laureate head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the classicizing Hellenistic portrait tradition typical of early Imperial provincial coinage. The laureate wreath is visible crowning the emperor's head, with hair indicated in stylized strands. A lituus (augural staff) appears to the right of the portrait in the field. Trapezopolis was a minor Lydian city whose coins are rarely documented in any volume, and civic issues bearing a magistrate's name — here Apollodotos, serving as the responsible authority — reflect the administrative framework Rome permitted to Hellenized communities in the conventus system. The city had no significant mint history before Augustus, and this bronze was almost certainly struck to facilitate local exchange rather than any broader circulation.
Apollodotos appears in no other well-documented source, making this piece one of the few material traces of his tenure.
