The Greek legend ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΣ appears to the left of the portrait in the field. The flan is irregular in shape, as typical of hammered provincial bronzes of this period. |

The rider is shown in military dress, seated upon a horse rendered with considerable energy. The Greek legends ΓΕΣΣΙΟΣ above and ΑΔΡΑΜΥΤ below or around the type identify the local magistrate Gessios and the issuing city of Adramyteum. The composition is bold and fills the flan, consistent with the provincial civic coinage of Mysia under the Augustan administration. |
