Reverse description Full-length standing figure of the veiled goddess Demeter, depicted facing left in long draped garments with a veil over her head, consistent with her chthonic and agricultural cult attributes. In her extended right hand she holds two ears of grain, and in her left hand she carries a long torch, emblematic of her search for Persephone. The encircling Greek legend ΔΗΜΗΤ ΝΕΙΚΟ identifies the deity and the issuing city of Nicomedia. A dotted border frames the reverse field, and the flan edges are notably irregular as typical of provincial hammered coinage.
