In his outstretched hand he holds two stalks of grain, while a cornucopia rests in the crook of his other arm, symbolising the fertile abundance of the region. The ethnic legend ϹΜΥΡΝΑΙΩΝ appears in the field, identifying the issuing city of Smyrna. The composition is typical of provincial bronze coinage struck under Roman Imperial oversight during the Antonine period. |
