| Beschrijving voorzijde | Turreted and draped bust of the Amazon Smyrna, eponymous founder of the city, facing right. The effigy is rendered in the local Ionian provincial style, with a mural crown (turreted headdress) atop the head, the drapery falling over the shoulder. The encircling Greek legend reads ϹΜΥΡΝΑ ΑΔΡΙΑΝΗ in the field around the bust, identifying the city under its honorific Hadrianic title. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show heavy patination consistent with prolonged circulation. |
