Lebedus was one of the twelve Ionian cities, but by the Imperial period it had long been overshadowed — Lysimachus forcibly synoikized its population into Ephesus around 295 BC, and the city never fully recovered its former standing. That it was still issuing civic bronze under Vespasian, naming a local magistrate Aegianos, suggests a modest administrative continuity rather than genuine urban vitality. The magistrate formula ΕΠΙ ΑΙΓΑΙΑΝΟΥ places this squarely within the conventional civic bronze tradition of the Ephesian conventus.
