| Reverse description | Diademed head of Demos, the personification of the people of Laodicea, facing right, with elaborately rendered hair bound by a diadem. The portrait is executed in a Hellenistic style consistent with civic personification types common to the Conventus of Cibyra during the Tiberian period. The circular Greek legend ΔΗΜΟΣ ΛΑΟΔΙΚΕΩΝ is distributed around the bust within a dotted border, identifying the civic entity. The flan is slightly irregular, as is typical of hammered provincial bronzes of this era. |
