| Beschrijving keerzijde | Standing frontal figure of Artemis of Ephesus, the great poliad goddess, wearing a kalathos (cylindrical headdress) and depicted in the characteristic Ephesian cult-idol manner with supports flanking her body. Flanking the deity are a crescent and a star. In the lower field, two nude male children (erotes or youths) are seated facing one another, engaged in a game of knucklebones (astragaloi), tossing the gaming pieces between them. The reverse legend is inscribed in the field identifying the issuing civic authority. |
