| Beschrijving keerzijde | Heracles (Hercules) standing facing left, nude, his weight resting on his right leg. He holds his characteristic club downward in his right hand and drapes the Nemean lion skin over his left arm, both attributes emblematic of his legendary labours. The type reflects the civic pride of Hypaepa and the widespread veneration of Heracles in Lydian coinage of the Severan period. The ethnic legend of the issuing city appears in the field or around the periphery. Surface heavily encrusted and worn, limiting legibility of fine details. |
