In her right hand she holds ears of grain (corn), and in her left hand a long vertical sceptre or torch. The reverse legend ΝΙΚΑΙΕΩΝ is disposed around the figure in the field, identifying the civic issuing authority of Nicaea. The bold, schematic rendering is typical of Bithynian provincial bronze coinage of the Severan period. |
