Reverse description The infant Dionysus is depicted seated facing right within a wicker basket (liknon), his arms outstretched in a characteristic pose; a thyrsus stands upright behind him in the field. The reverse legend ΝΙΚΑΙΕΩΝ, identifying the issuing city of Nicaea, is distributed around the central device within a dotted border. This liknophoros type is a well-attested reverse motif on the civic bronze coinage of Nicaea during the Severan period.
