The uppermost tier is surmounted by a fire beacon, represented by stylised flames or radiating strokes. The structure is a recognisable representation of the famous lighthouse at Heraclea Pontica, a type well attested on civic bronze coinage of this mint. The abbreviated ethnic legend ΗΡΑΚΛΕΩΤ appears in the left field, partially preserved, within a beaded border. |
