The shield type is a distinctive civic emblem associated with Pitane. Pitane, a coastal Aeolian city absorbed into the Roman provincial structure under the Pergamene conventus, struck only sporadically under the Julio-Claudians. The magistrate named in the legend — Eisidoros — is otherwise unattested in the epigraphic record, making this small bronze one of the few surviving traces of his tenure.
