Obverse description Draped bust of the emperor Nero facing left, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of the Conventus of Adramyteum. The portrait displays youthful features consistent with early Neronian portraiture. The circular Greek legend ΝΕΡΩΝ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ (Nero Caesar) runs around the periphery of the flan.

Reverse description The xoanon (archaic cult statue) of Artemis of Ephesus depicted frontally without lateral supports, shown in the characteristic schematic form with multiple breast-like protrusions and tightly wrapped lower body, standing upon a rectangular pedestal or base. The abbreviated ethnic legend ΑΒΥ appears to the left field, identifying the issuing city of Abydus.
