Phocaea's civic bronze coinage under Nero was administered through the conventus system, where Roman judicial circuits doubled as administrative frameworks for local mint activity. The magistrate name preserved here — Demosthenes, son of Hagios — is one of a small number of named officials attested on Phocaean bronzes from this reign, making these pieces minor prosopographical documents for the Greek municipal aristocracy of western Asia Minor under early imperial rule.
