| Obverse description | Laureate and cuirassed bust of the emperor Hadrian facing right, portrayed in the conventional imperial manner typical of Pergamene provincial coinage. The laureate wreath is rendered with radiating leaves around the head, while the cuirass is visible at the shoulder. The encircling Greek legend reads ΑΥ ΤΡΑΙΑΝΟϹ ΑΔΡΙΑΝΟϹ, identifying the emperor in the field surrounding the effigy. The flan is irregular in shape, consistent with hand-struck provincial bronze coinage of the second century AD. |
