| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, portrayed in three-quarter rear view, a characteristic rendering common to provincial bronzes of his reign. The imperial effigy displays the paludamentum fastened at the shoulder, conveying both military and divine authority. The surrounding Greek legend identifies the emperor by his adopted dynastic name. The flan is irregular and the surfaces heavily patinated, consistent with a locally produced civic issue of Bithynian Calchedon. |
